How this fits your third-party risk programme: Questionnaires and screening tell you what a third party declares. A Neotas report tells you what the public record shows. Use the findings to challenge disclosures, add contract protections or decide not to proceed. Managing hundreds of third parties? The Neotas TPRM platform handles onboarding, tiering and monitoring, and escalates the ones that need a report.

From scoping call to decision-ready report

Analysts run every investigation on the Neotas investigative platform. The platform searches at scale; an analyst confirms and owns every finding.

  1. Define the relationship

Tell us who the third party is, where it operates and what decision you need to make.

  2. Agree the level and scope

We fix the report level, jurisdictions, languages and delivery date before work starts.

  3. Investigate

Analysts search corporate registries, licensed risk databases, court records and local-language media, plus the wider web and social media.

  4. Validate

We confirm identity, remove false matches, and separate verified facts from allegations.

  5. Deliver and debrief

You receive a RAG-rated report with a source for every finding, and a walkthrough with the lead analyst.

Built around your deal or onboarding timeline. Delivery dates are agreed at the outset, and the report slots into your existing approval process.

What is inside the report?

A structured view of the company and the people behind it, with a source for every finding.

Inside the report

Scope depends on the report level, subjects and jurisdictions.

Continuous risk oversight

Ongoing monitoring after onboarding

A report is a snapshot. Third parties change owners, pick up lawsuits and make headlines after you sign. Monitoring keeps the picture current.

  • Spot material changesNew sanctions designations, adverse media, ownership changes and litigation.
  • Get alerts at the right paceDaily, weekly or monthly by risk tier, with high-risk alerts escalated immediately.
  • Act before renewalUse new findings to trigger review, escalation or a deeper report.
Due diligence does not end at signature. Monitoring is available on every report level.

Who uses third-party due diligence?

Teams that need to know who they are doing business with before a contract, a payment or a renewal.

Compliance and ethics teams

Vetting agents and intermediaries for anti-bribery and anti-fraud programmes. Regulators expect risk-based due diligence on third parties under the FCPA, UK Bribery Act section 7 and the UK Failure to Prevent Fraud offence. Our reports document what you checked and what you found.

Procurement and supplier risk teams

Onboarding and renewing critical or high-risk suppliers, where a questionnaire answer is not enough.

Legal teams and General Counsel

Assessing JV, distribution and agency partners before signing, and setting contract protections based on what we find.

Third-party due diligence FAQs

Something else? Ask us on a scoping call.

What is third-party due diligence?
Third-party due diligence is the investigation of a supplier, agent, distributor, partner or other counterparty before or during a business relationship. It examines who owns and runs the third party, its legal and regulatory record, sanctions and political exposure, and its reputation, so you can decide whether to proceed and on what terms.
Which third parties need enhanced due diligence?
Those that carry the most risk: agents and intermediaries with government contact, partners in high-risk jurisdictions, JV partners, third parties with opaque ownership, and any counterparty where screening or a questionnaire has raised a red flag.
How is this different from third-party risk management (TPRM)?
TPRM is the whole programme: onboarding, risk tiering, monitoring and offboarding. Third-party due diligence is the investigation step within it. Our reports provide that investigation; the Neotas TPRM platform runs the wider programme.
Which report level do I need?
Match the level to the risk. Level 1 suits lower-risk suppliers and first checks. Level 2 suits agents, distributors and partners in higher-risk markets. Level 3 suits JV partners, complex ownership and cases where red flags need a deeper look. We will recommend a level on a scoping call.
How long does third-party due diligence take?
Level 1 takes 1 to 2 working days, Level 2 takes 3 to 5, and Level 3 takes 5 to 7. Expedited delivery is available for urgent decisions.
Does this replace our supplier questionnaire or screening tool?
No. Questionnaires record what a third party tells you, and screening checks lists. Our reports verify those answers against independent sources and find what neither covers, such as undisclosed owners, political links and unreported misconduct.
Will the third party know we are investigating them?
Our research uses public and licensed sources and does not involve contacting the subject.
Do your reports support FCPA, Bribery Act and Failure to Prevent Fraud compliance?
These laws expect risk-based due diligence on third parties acting for you. Our reports give you a documented, sourced record of what was checked, what was found and how risk was rated. They support your compliance file; they are not legal advice.
Which jurisdictions and languages do you cover?
We research across 200+ jurisdictions, and our analysts review media in 30+ native languages rather than relying on machine translation.
Can you monitor third parties after onboarding?
Yes. Monitoring tracks new sanctions designations, adverse media, ownership changes and litigation, with daily, weekly or monthly alerts set by risk tier. High-risk alerts are escalated immediately.
